Claiming a character is one thing and then having them do things that contradict that just for plot reasons is just lazy writing.Īs I said earlier, I’m going to give this show another chance before I fully make up my mind. Such as, knowingly leaving evidence behind at a crime scene for no reason when she could have just taken it. And yet in the pilot episode, she did so many stupid things that lead me to believe she just thinks she’s an amazing detective. Nancy is supposed to be an amazing crime solver, better than the police and detectives. The acting also hasn’t blown me away yet and I’m hoping that this, along with everything mentioned above, might change as it goes on. Including the characters, the setting, the blossoming relationships and the plot (so far).
While the show has dark elements, everything else is pretty light and basic. The cases of a pair of teen detective brothers and a teen girl amateur sleuth. With Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson, Ed Gilbert, Pamela Sue Martin.
Pamela Matin's version in the 1970's or 1980's was far superior.

Nancy Drew is a poor shadow of the character from the books or indeed the last two movie adaptations. Instead, we got a very light shade of grey that left me extremely disappointed. I was expecting and hoping for this to be a very dark show, or at least Riverdale level dark. It’s not all bad, the pilot wasn’t terrible and I haven’t formed a full opinion since it’s only one episode, but it definitely had its issues. I won’t lie, I was super excited for this and have been anticipating it for about two months, however, the pilot episode has left that anticipation tasting quite sour. The CW has come out with a new Nancy Drew adaptation, this time in the form of a teen TV show. Young Nancy Drew makes plans to leave her hometown for college after high school graduation, but finds herself drawn into a supernatural murder mystery.
